Pooya M. Koohbanani, Principal M.Sc., P.E., CWI, LEED AP.
Pooya holds a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas. He is also a CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) with the American Welding Society, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Certified Windstorm Inspector with TDI (Texas Department of Insurance). He has been practicing engineering since 1995, following the completion of his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Kerman Technical University. He is currently a licensed Structural Engineer in Texas and Oklahoma.
Beyond engineering, Pooya has always enjoyed teaching. As a part-time faculty and a Program Manager, he was with BJP Welding Department for 16 years, but he notes the following as his most rewarding and memorable teaching experiences:
- Teaching to the elderly how to text, email, and use Facebook, so they could annoy the grandkids (4-year volunteer job).
-
Teaching blueprint reading and occupational math to the inmates inside Dallas County Jail (3 years). No! He wasn’t an inmate himself; It was through a college program.
